The WA Kite Surfing Association is the Western Australian representative body for the sport of Kite Surfing. In affiliation with the Australian Kite Surfing Association our major roles are promoting safety and protecting beach access while developing positive attitudes and relationships between kiters and beyond to the wider community. This includes providing our members with public liability insurance (see summary below), representation at an official level when dealing with Local and State Government, delivering a calendar of events that caters for all levels of kiting ability and providing the framework and standards for competitive development of the sport in Australia.

Life started on 12th Dec 2004 when I finally landed back at the launch beach for the first time! EeeHaaa. Haven't looked back since. I've done the odd thing or two in my life but kiting kills it. I may never be any good at it but I challenge anyone to claim they enjoy their kiting more than I do. WAKSA/AKSA involvement just keeps the excitement going off the water. The opportunity to help develop a sport in its infancy is an awesome experience. The mateship & goodwill of kiting & kiters everywhere is the icing on the cake. Totally awesome obsession.

Originally from SA I arrived in WA about 4 years ago cause I wanted better beaches, better lifestyle and better wind. I've never looked back. I do all the graphic design work for WAKSA and help out with the website when I can. I've been kiting for about 5 years now and am as addicted as all of you. So much so I thought I'd get involved with the WAKSA committee and since then have had an awesome time and meet some awesome people. Local kite spot: Brighton

I have been kiting 7 years starting in Safety Bay and am a regular at Woodies after work, not to mention downwinders from Floreat, Leighton, Margs, Esperance and Gnaraloo.  Originally from Melbourne, a sandgroper convert, then stuck in Brisbane, I am looking forward to getting back to Perth to keep the kiting the best Oz has to offer.

I've been kiting since 2003 and it's been an obsession that's seen me move a few times for better wind and waves... from Queenstown in NZ to Brisbane and now to Perth. The lifestyle and conditions in Perth are amazing and I'm as stoked as ever on the sport. I joined the WAKSA committee this year to give a little back to the sport that keeps me sane!

I got into kitesurfing one morning in early 2004 when I went for a pie - the pie shop was next to a kite shop and I wandered in for a look. Not long after I was offered a work transfer to Perth, and having heard about the conditions here jumped at the opportunity. Being a mining engineer by day means it's a perfect place for me to live. After significant physical and psychological improvements thanks to kiting over the next few years I decided to give back to the sport that had given me so much and volunteered for the WAKSA committee in 2007. I started kiting in the 2000 after 20 years of windsurfing which I gave up totally after my first dabbling with a foil kite, home made board and bar. The lure of steady seabreezes brought me back to live in Western Australia in 1992 from SA. I had previously spent two summers in row windsufing Lancelin and Geraldton in 1984/85. I have been building boards since 1980. Hopefully be able to kite till the day before I die. Giving back a bit to a sport that has given me so much is what I wanted to do by joining the WAKSA committee.

Representing the 'newby' kiters in WAKSA, I took up kiting only last season.  In that time, however, I've become addicted to this sport that brings awesome experiences and good comradery with fellow kiters. Enticed by the kiting video, free pizza and cheap beer, I found myself at the WAKSA AGM and none-the-less, am now proud to be a committee member. Looking forward to not being a total beginner this season.... bring on the kiting!

As an ex Durban 'jungle bunny', kite-boarding has been a perfect fit to my outdoor lifestyle enabling me to continually meet those great 'fun' people whilst exploring different locations through this sport. Yes, I
do drink beer after a good session on the water, yes, I can also boast of some big stacks and yes, I will probably continue to traumatize all the other members whilst serving on the committee....Remember to fill what's empty! Favourite locations - Anywhere with big waves
